Is Optimum Nutrition Halal Or Haram?

Disclaimer: I am not an Aalim or very knowledgeable about this topic. I am trying to provide as much information as I can with the resources available to me. If someone could ask a knowledgeable individual regarding our search to find out if Optimum Nutrition is Halal this would be a great help.

Optimum Nutrition Double Rich Chocolate

As we know Optimum Nutrition (ON) is one of the most popular protein shakes out there and many Muslims use it as part of their diet. Unfortunately, not everyone knows that most flavours have alcohol confirmed by the statement below. However, Double Rich Chocolate is the one flavour they say does not contain any alcohol. I ordered a tub to find out more about the ingredients included. Using the Halal scan app we found there is one ingredient Fatty Acids which is Musbooh. If we know what it is made from then this could be the only potential halal flavour.

After speaking to Optimum Nutrition and seeing the information below. We cannot confirm whether it is halal or haram. We have done our research and there seems to be doubt in the question so it is up to the individual. Further below we have provided just as good as options which are confirmed to be halal. I myself will continue to have it based on two points. Firstly, ON have confirmed themselves that it is alcohol free compared to all other flavours. Secondly, they have also told me the only fatty acids (Mushbooh according to scan halal screenshot) are retrieved from milk, and milk as we know is halal. There is no other ingredient in this product which could say that it is haram. The xanthan gum is also E415 which is the halal variant. I will confirm my decision once people have replied to our story or ON reply to my latest email.
