Teaching in a Muslim country during Ramadhan just hits different and let me tell you why.
- Shorter working hours enforced by the government, can spend more time focusing on your ibadat and resting.
- You're not the only one fasting, every student greeting you with Ramadhan Mubarak is amazing. When I worked in the UK, fasting felt lonely as you were the only one. However, I remember my non-Muslim colleagues were so accommodating.
- No after work activities, keeping in mind staff are tired and hungry so CPD, ECAs are put on pause during this month.
- Suhoor and Iftar buffets are a thing? the society here goes crazy for these buffets and I will definitely be attending one IA after my taraweeh khatam is finished. Could anyone recommend the best buffet to go to?
Is there anything I have missed? Are there any things that make fasting easier in other middle eastern countries?
