Thinking of teaching in Qatar? Here are 3 things you NEED to know

Some of them surprised us, and we are relieved they weren't a problem for us. If you are considering going to Qatar as a teacher, bear the following points in mind, especially number three.

📚 PGCE/QTS - The most evident requirement for teaching in Qatar is a PGCE and QTS from the UK. If you are an ECT, you may still teach in Qatar, but you will need to find a school that would let you complete your ECT.

✍ Marriage certificate - If you are a couple moving to Qatar, you will need to present a marriage certificate. It is unlawful to cohabit in Qatar, therefore be sure you have completed your formal registry if you intend to move.

👩‍🏫 Degree requirements - Of course, you need a degree. However, there are specific standards that must be met. Most importantly, your degree must be delivered in person. Qatar does not acknowledge degrees completed online. For anyone who has completed open university, this will be a difficulty when coming to teach in Qatar.
